ASTM A106 - Seamless Steel Pipe

• Detailed introduction:

  Application: Suitable for pipeline transportation in high-temperature environments, especially for the transportation of oil and natural gas.

• Steel type: Carbon steel.

• Standard content: This standard is mainly applicable to seamless pipes with high temperatures and high pressures, suitable for the transmission of steam, oil and natural gas. A106 has different grades (Grade A, Grade B, Grade C), and their tensile strength and temperature resistance are different.

• Main applications:

• Transportation of high temperatures, oil and natural gas.

• Heating systems and boiler pipes.

• High-temperature and high-pressure pipes in power plants and refineries.

• ASTM A106 is divided into Grade A, B, and C, with Grade B being the most commonly used. Available sizes range from OD 1/8 inch to 48 inches (≈1220mm), with wall thicknesses ranging from Schedule 10S to Schedule 160. Chemical composition includes C≤0.30%, Mn 0.29–1.06%, Si≥0.10%, P≤0.035%, S≤0.035%, and Cr+Ni+Cu total ≤0.40%, Mo≤0.15%, V≤0.08%. Physical properties are similar to A53: density 7.85g/cm³, Young's modulus 200GPa, thermal expansion coefficient 12.5×10⁻⁶/°C, thermal conductivity about 50W/(m·K). Mechanical properties require tensile strength ≥415MPa, yield strength ≥240MPa, and elongation ≥22%. For conveying systems with temperatures up to 425°C.
